What is Motivation? What is Drive? What is Inspiration? & How Do I Get It!

#motivation

Drive: “An innate, biologically determined urge to attain a goal or satisfy a need.”

Inspiration: “The process of being mentally stimulated to do or feel something, esp. to do something creative.”

Now we know exactly what they are. How do they tie in together?

What I believe is that the driving force is love. We want something because we love it.

Now is this the driving force behind motivation, not always. Sometimes our reasons for being motivated are all wrong. Sometimes we choose to go after certain goals to please someone else or to get something that we think will make us feel better.

How Do I Get Motivation, Drive, Inspiration, and Desire?

Have you been procrastinating a task and really want to figure out how to get motivated to do it?

Check out Marie Forleo’s video on When Procrastination is a Good Thing. http://www.marieforleo.com/2013/10/procrastination-good-thing/
She states that maybe the procrastination is a sign to look at why and what it is we are going after.

Do we really want it? I mean come on, how bad do you really want it if you have to look up how to get motivated to do it?....

Why do you have to/want to do it? Maybe you have to work at a shitty job to feed your family. Well that is your motivation right there!! Maybe your boss wants a report in by COB today! Well you value your job, right? You want to keep it, right? Well isn’t that motivation to get shit done!

One of the large motivators for me is…. You are always stepping into another position, or opportunity. You are always moving forward with every task you get done, every small goal you accomplish.

But… You have to know what direction you are going. You need a plan. You need to know what the next step is after this shitty job. Are you saving up to start a business of your own? Are you networking to get clientele for your next job? Are you working your way up to be a head honcho in the business? Are you choosing to get some experience in your field for cheap pay?

KNOW WHERE YOU ARE GOING!
Of course motivation will be hard to have when you have no good damn reason to do whatever it is you are trying to do!!

Do What You Love and the Rest Will Follow

Do you need motivation to roam Pinterest?
Do you need motivation to garden?
Do you need motivation to go hiking?
Do you need motivation to shop?
Do you need motivation to go to the zoo and feed the animals?

Okay a few of you may need some motivation to do some of these, but what I am getting at is you do not need motivation when you want to something!

When you are doing something you love, you will desire it. You will want to do it. Inspiration will come with it. You will get excitement about it!

And it is so much FUN to be all giddy, excited and inspired over something.

Life Goals, Do You Really Want It?

Look at what your life goals are? Are they to get married? Have a baby? Buy a new car? Own your own house? Put your children in a private school? Have a huge wedding?

Now why do you want those things? Really dig deep. If you are only coming up with, well why shouldn’t I want it, then maybe you need to look at your life and your goals.

Many of us don’t really figure out want we want. So we want what others have or what we think we should want, which we get from society.

You do not need to be married to be an adult! You do not need to have a new car to be freakin’ awesome! You do not need to have a huge wedding to prove that you love your husband! You do not need to have children at all, if it doesn’t appeal to you.

DO YOU! Desire what you want. Love what you want. Inspiration will come flowing through you. Love for it will be your Motivation!

Learning to appreciate what I have and to truly be happy has brought many opportunities into my life for growth. My path changed because my way of thinking changed.

Love this! I have bookmarked it for the next time I need some inspiration or a little boost to stop procrastinating.
